FAQ

Common questions

Which calculator tells me how many lots I should trade?

The position size calculator. It takes your account balance, the risk you are willing to take and your stop distance in pips, then returns a lot size. For gold, remember one standard lot is 100 oz and one pip is 0.01, so a stop of a few dollars is a large pip count and shrinks the size quickly.

How do I work out what one pip is worth on my gold position?

Use the pip value calculator. With 1 lot equal to 100 oz and a pip of 0.01, the pip value scales directly with your lot size, so a 0.10-lot position carries a tenth of the per-pip value of a full lot. Enter your exact lot size rather than estimating.

Where do I find the margin a gold trade will tie up?

The margin calculator answers that. Margin depends on your lot size, the gold price and the leverage cap that applies to the entity serving Ghana. As a reference, at that cap a 0.10-lot position needs about $85.50. Margin is not your risk; it is the collateral held while the trade is open.

Can I see expected profit before I enter a trade?

Yes, with the profit calculator. It converts your entry, exit and lot size into a cash figure using the pip value for gold. The result is gross of the costs your broker charges, so treat it as an estimate of the price move only and check your broker's cost structure separately.

What are pivot points used for on a gold chart?

The pivot points tool derives support and resistance levels from the previous session's high, low and close. Traders use them to mark where price has previously reacted, which helps with placing stops and targets rather than guessing. They are reference levels, not signals, and they carry no guarantee that price will turn there.
