Our reference price for XAU/USD is approximately 4275.0. That figure is a working reference for examples and calculations, not a live quote, and your broker's screen will show its own bid and ask. Always read the price from your platform before sizing a trade.

What actually moves the gold price during a session?

Gold responds to the US dollar, real interest rate expectations, central bank demand and demand for defensive assets when markets are unsettled. It is quoted in US dollars, so a stronger dollar usually weighs on the price for buyers holding other currencies, including those funding in GH₵ through MTN Mobile Money.

Why is gold quoted in dollars when I fund in cedis?

XAU/USD is priced in US dollars per ounce, so your account is effectively dollar-denominated even if you deposit cedis. That means your cedi result depends on both the gold move and the dollar-to-cedi rate at the time. Your broker applies its own conversion route, so check how it handles your funding currency.

How is a gold pip different from a forex pip?

For XAU/USD one pip is 0.01, and one standard lot is 100 oz, so a one-pip move on a full lot is a dollar per ounce times 100. That makes gold pip values much larger than on a typical currency pair at the same lot size, which is why position sizing matters more here.

Does gold trade the same hours as currency pairs?

Gold trades through the same broad global session structure as major currency pairs, from the Asian open through London and New York, and it is closed over the weekend. Liquidity is not even across that window, and the quiet stretches and the news-heavy stretches behave very differently, so the hour you choose changes your execution conditions.
